Guide · AI Voice Agents

How does an AI receptionist work for a small business?

It answers your phone line with a natural voice, answers questions from your own playbook and books callers into your calendar. You get a summary of every call, and it can pass a caller to you when a person is needed.

What happens on a call

  1. A customer calls your number, any time of day or night.
  2. The assistant answers, says it's a virtual assistant and asks how it can help.
  3. It answers from your playbook: your services, hours, areas and the answers you've approved.
  4. If the caller wants to book, it offers times from your calendar and books the slot.
  5. The caller gets a text confirmation, and a summary of the call lands in your inbox.

Questions

What does it need from me to get started?

Your playbook: what you offer, your hours and areas, and the answers you want callers to hear. Plus the calendar it books into and the inbox where call summaries go.

What happens when it can't answer a question?

It's set up to stay within your playbook. When a question falls outside it, it can pass the caller to you or take their details for a call back, and the summary notes what it couldn't answer.

Does it tell callers it's an AI?

Yes. It introduces itself as a virtual assistant. We don't build receptionists that pretend to be a person.

Can it talk to callers in Spanish or another language?

Yes. It detects the caller's language and answers in it: English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese and more.

Will it sound robotic?

It uses a natural, human-sounding voice. The quickest way to judge is to call Stella, our own receptionist, on +1 (737) 332-4155.

Do we own it, or do you run it?

Either works. We can host it for you, or hand it over for you to run.
